When it tums July, the Korean Peninsula grows bright with the deepening summer, and the beaches and mountains become alive with travelers that venture out to enjoy the summer. Here are some regional festivals and events that will leave you with unforgettable memories of this summer.

Everland's fantasic Four Seasons Garden is renowned as a year-round banquet of carefully planned flowers. Following the Rose Festival of May and june, Everland will continue on to the Lily Summer Music Festival in the months of July and Auguest.

Lilies, which symbolize both purity and splendor, will fill the vast gardens serenaded by the tunes from the diverse musical genres of pop, jazz, classical, and popular Korean music.

Everland is a very large-scale amusement park in the Seoul vicinity selected in 2001 as one of the world's five best theme parks. It encompasses Festival World (rides), Caribbean Bay (a year-round warte park), Four Seasons Garden, Safari World (zoo), with family hotels located on the premises for a leisurely visit.

Entrance fees are 22,000 won for adults, and all-access passes including the festival world and safari rides are 28,000 won.

Starting this July 19 for a period of 7 days, the 6th Boryeong Mud Festival will take place at Daecheon Beach and surroundings, famous for sunny west coast summer days. The festival started in July of 1998, to adverise the efficacy of the skincare line and promote Boryeong's tour attractions. It has since solidified its position as a successful regional festival.

Visitors participating in the Boryeong Mud Festival can take a swim in the waters of Daecheon Beach (a rare experience, because this spercial sand is made up of surf-polished shell fragments) or in the thick black sediment, ad enjoy the multitude of regional culture events.

One of the events is the Mud Experience Land, where mud filtered of sand, shells and seaweed, is dried into power and used for mud massages, mud games, body painting, hand printing, mud sliding, mud wrestling, etc.

bullet_pieces.gif The 8th Gangjin Celadon Cultural Festival

The 8th Gangjin Celadon Cultural Festival will take place from July 26 to Auguest 1 for one week at Gangjin's Goryeo kiln sites.

Goryeo celadon is the representative ceramic ware for Korea's Middle Age period. Gangjim was the top production site, and some 80% of the prized celadon preserved in museums around the world and in Korea as national treasures came from this area. The theme for this year's festival is "Earth, water, fire, and man."

Visitors can create their own ceramics, from hands in wet clay for basic formation, with expert assistance provided free to final design on celadon-glazed works, to be mailed later, for a nominal fee.
