About Sorak National Park

Mt. Sorak is known as the mountain that is never forgotten by anyone who has been embraced by it. Often described as a "peerless, beautiful woman," Sorak has a spiky mountain peak going through clouds like bamboo shoots, and crystal clear water flowing down from the rock formations and into ponds in the valleys and waterfalls. Through these we see that Sorak's compliment is not an overstatement.

Whereas Mt. Keumgang is graceful, it lacks in grandeur; and while Mt. Jiri is grand, it is not graceful. On the other hand, Mt. Sorak is often commended for both its grandeur and gracefulness. Furthermore, Mt. Sorak's entire area is breeding ground for world's rare organisms. It was designated as the only preservation site for organisms in Korea by UNESCO, in 1982.

Mt. Sorak is full of steep rock walls and extensive snowfall and ice formations during the winter. This makes it ideal for rock and ice wall climbing. Mt. Sorak National Park is located near the clear, blue East Sea, and is endowed with optimal natural conditions that go beautifully with the ocean.

There are also well-renowned beaches, ski resorts, spring waters, famous historical remains and more, near the mountain. It's no surprise that over 5 million visitors come to this place each year. Lodging facilities such as hotels and other residential amenities are well developed for the conscientious traveler, making Sorak Korea's best tourist resort site.
